On a world-wide basis there is a permanently growing interest in developing new catalysts and adsorbent formulation, and as a consequence establishing novel and advanced technologies. Therefore it is clear that number of catalysts is constantly increasing, and in many cases offering an improved performance or enhanced service life or simply better economics in use. These newly developed, modified or improved catalysts and adsorbents have really opened up new horizons by their application, ranging from gas processing to oil refining or petrochemicals application, or specialty chemicals manufacture, up to environmental-driven stationary or mobile automotive solutions.
weydaconsulting GmbH is granting technical and commercial services for the Chemical Industry with an international focus, in particular advice on catalysts and adsorbents and their applied technologies. Special focus here is in the Oil Refining and Petrochemicals area, plus in automotive emission control and renewables applications as well. All in all, consulting services have been granted to a diverse spectrum of process technologies in petroleum oil refining, lube oil processing, renewable fuels manufacture, gas processing and chemical plants, ... and their related catalyst and adsorbent manufacturing industry. In this frame we completed (or still are working on) a range of client-confidential studies and service activities for our clients in Europe, America and Asia.

During the last years there are quite a number of such good examples for introducing such novel catalysts and/or novel process technologies: Using novel high-density metals catalysts most severe hydroprocessing targets could be achieved, for instance in producing ultra-low sulphur fuels. To improve cold-flow properties of lube oil cuts and middle distillates novel dewaxing catalysts are offering much higher product yield than compared to solvent processing or first catalyst versions, i.e. operating economics are significantly increased nowadays. With the introduction of zeolite TS-1 based epoxidation technology the elder environmentally challenging chlorohydrin process could be replaced. In China coal is converted in a first step into methanol and in a second step towards ethylene and propylene - all based on novel catalysts and improved technologies. The availability large volumes of natural gas (in the US) or other carbon-rich resources resulted in a number of novel technologies to manufacture high-octane gasoline and jet fuels. To supply automotive emission control catalysts and to cope with the continuously more-and-more stringent environmental global legislations, particular catalysts formulations and technologies are being adapted in the same pace as science is advancing.
